Is Your Social Media ADA-Compliant? Understanding the New Requirements

The deadline for the new ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements has been extended, giving public sector communications teams twelve months to align their digital presence with federal standards. While this extension provides some breathing room, the complexity of moving from theory to practice remains. This session will show how your team can confidently implement accessibility standards within a fast-paced communications environment.

If your city, town or village has a population below 50,000, please join the National League of Cities and the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy for a listening session to share feedback about your community's experiences with preparing for the upcoming compliance deadline. Communities with populations of below 50,000 now have until April 26, 2028 to comply with the requirements of the Department of Justice's rule on accessibility standards for local government websites, apps, and other online content. Feedback shared will be used to inform advocacy to the Department of Justice around possible regulatory relief, guidance and technical assistance needed for small communities.

On January 20 at noon, we will offer a Lunch and Learn: Tutorial Session on Key Contact Functionality to introduce/refresh key contacts on how to add their officials into the platform. Each city/town is allowed two Key Contacts; please make sure that at least one municipal contact plans to attend.

Key contacts are municipal staff who have been designated by their municipality to have access to MML's database platform. This functionality allows key contacts to add new officials into our system as well as register officials for our events.
