Conservation by Design in Land Use Planning webinar

Hosted by the Maryland Forestry Foundation, the next installment of the Forestry Policy Third Thursday virtual webinars series will be held December 19, 1 - 2 p.m.

The December webinar is focused on Conservation by Design in Land Use Planning which is a specific strategy to implement the land discussed in the last webinar. JOIN US!

A conservation subdivision design (CD) involves coordinated improvements to existing comprehensive plans, subdivision regulations, and zoning ordinances. When properly implemented, this approach offers the potential for local governments to protect interconnected networks of conservation lands by requiring significant percentages of the buildable land to be preserved, in addition to all of the constrained wetlands, floodplains, and steep slopes.

The Maryland Forestry Foundation recognizes the importance of legislative policies in shaping management decisions at broad scales and at the local level. To promote better understanding of policies influencing how forests in Maryland are managed, the Foundation hosts a free monthly webinar series to provide education and discussion on various aspects of forest and environmental policy. The Framing the Future webinars can be viewed live on the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m.
