New Maryland Partnership Connects AI Innovation with Workforce Opportunity

Governor Wes Moore announced a partnership between Maryland and RAISE US, a national nonprofit that works with states, employers, workers, and educators to build the training and workforce systems needed for an AI-driven economy.

The partnership will help Maryland workers, employers, and community organizations adapt to emerging technologies by piloting incentives for companies to retrain and redeploy workers, develop support for people navigating job transitions, and create training models tied to employer demand. It will also expand Maryland’s Service Year Option into sectors such as health care and education, establish a competitive fund for innovative career-transition programs, and launch an accelerator to help displaced workers pursue entrepreneurship.

“Marylanders are concerned about how quickly artificial intelligence is moving, and they want to know what it means for their jobs, their families, and their future,” said Governor Moore. He said the partnership advances the administration’s commitment to equipping workers with the skills, tools, and resources needed to create pathways to work, wages, and wealth. RAISE US co-founder and CEO Gina Raimondo and board co-founder and co-chair Eric Holcomb emphasized that U.S. leadership in AI requires a practical people strategy led by states and developed with employers, a strategy that anticipates disruption, tests innovative workforce solutions, and scales approaches that connect more Americans with the skills and careers of the future.
