Nominations Now Open: 2027 Maryland Sustainable Growth Awards
Do you know an individual, business, organization, or local government making outstanding contributions to smart, sustainable growth in Maryland? It’s time to recognize their work!
The Maryland Department of Planning, in partnership with the Maryland Sustainable Growth Subcabinet, is now accepting nominations for the 2027 Sustainable Growth Awards. Help us celebrate the local projects, policies, and leaders driving resilient, inclusive, and vibrant communities across our state.
Timeline: Projects, programs, or policies must have been completed (or slated for completion) between January 2025 and December 2026. (Note: Initiatives scheduled to complete after the nomination window closes on September 30 remain eligible.)
Scope: Open to individuals, businesses, non-profits, and local governments. State-level programs, projects and policies are not eligible.
Core Evaluation Criteria
Nominations must align with at least 4 of the 8 Sustainable Growth Principles (SGP3) and will be evaluated on five core measures:
- Impact: Meaningful, measurable positive change
- Replicability: Models that can be adapted by other communities
- Collaboration: Strong partnerships and teamwork
- Innovation: Bold, new, or creative solutions
- Endurance: Built for long-term success
Winners will receive a Sustainable Growth Award, Governor’s Citation, and invitation to celebrate at the State House in Spring 2027, elevating their contributions at the state level.
