Free Cyber Training for Maryland Locals

The Cybersecurity Operational Methods and Education Training (COMET) program - delivered by BCR Cyber in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) and funded by the Employment Advancement Right Now (EARN) Maryland grant - is now accepting applicants for its FREE Fall 2025 training tracks.

Two Training Tracks Available (Sept 29 – Nov 3, 2025):

1. Incumbent Training

  • Live Instruction: 1 – 3 p.m. daily
  • Covers: Security Operations Fundamentals, Cyber Range Simulation, and AI in the SOC
  • Culminates in a Security Operations Center Operations Analyst 1 (SOCOA I) certification test voucher
  • Ideal for employees with at least one year of IT or cybersecurity experience

2. Advanced Incumbent Training

  • Live Instruction: 3 – 5 p.m. daily
  • Covers: Network devices, threat basics, security appliances, and more
  • Culminates in a CompTIA Security+ certification test voucher
  • Ideal for employees with at least two years of IT or cybersecurity experience

Eligibility Requirements (for both tracks):

  • Must be a Maryland State or Local Government employee
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have manager approval to participate during business hours
