MML is often asked to nominate candidates to workgroups, task forces, and commissions created to study or work on specific policy areas. The Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee is within the Department of Emergency Management consisting of organizational representatives. The Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee provides governance and policy-level advice regarding public safety emergency communications interoperability. For matters related to public safety emergency communications and interoperability, the Committee promotes the efficient and effective use of resources.

The Statewide Interoperability Radio Control Board is within the Department of Information Technology and consists of local government entities that are either users of or contributors to the Maryland First Responder Radio System Team (FiRST) System. The Board is the governance body that coordinates the operation and maintenance of the Statewide Public Safety Interoperability Radio System, also known as Maryland FiRST.
