SUBJECT: Executive Director’s Weekly UPDATE During COVID-19 Emergency

I trust this update finds you and your family well and successfully coping with the ever-changing circumstances of this insidious virus.
This morning, Governor Hogan announced an Executive Order enabling municipal governments to delay upcoming elections during the State of Emergency. Cities and towns preparing for April, May or June elections are encouraged to contact their municipal attorneys to prepare the required Charter amendment should you choose to delay your election.
Be sure to visit the MML Coronavirus Resource Center for all the latest information on Federal, State and local mandates and guidelines. MML team members regularly monitor and post updates to the page so you can be sure you have the best municipal government related information available. New this week is a local Business Assistance information page, requested by many of our member cities and towns wishing to provide guidance and assistance to their local businesses impacted by the shutdown of non-essential services. MML continues to post new municipal-specific FAQ’s along with many of the innovative municipal responses to the health crisis initiated by Maryland cities and towns. Please bookmark the page for future reference and for great ideas!
I also ask that you bookmark MML’s Municipal Connections Page where you may virtually network with your fellow municipal officials in real time on the many special circumstances you are confronting as a result of this emergency. If you have a great idea, please share it and if you see a question posed by another official that you can answer, please take the time to answer it.
