[ARCHIVED] MML Testifies in Support of Electric Aggregation

MML testified in support of HB 561 which would authorize municipalities to form an electric aggregation service or band together with other municipalities or counties to create a larger pool for aggregation. Allowing for local governments to negotiate electric service on behalf of their constituents produces more competition in the space, potentially lowers electric costs, or diversifies the renewable energy portfolio of the supplier.

This idea of local government electric aggregation was an MML priority twice in the past and still garners support within the membership. The Senate crossfile, SB 315 is set to have its public bill hearing on February 25.
