In 2018, Maryland launched the nation's first state-sponsored Climate Leadership Academy, leading to the training of over 475 participants in six cohorts.  This initial training has led to the creation of a one-day educational program designed specifically for elected officials in Maryland, which will take place on January 7, 2020 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Annapolis.

Participants in this training will gain foundational knowledge about climate change impacts to regional and local economies across Maryland, including implications for critical infrastructure, security, and public health. You will also gain knowledge of current state policies and tools available to help communities adapt and become more resilient. The program includes facilitated exercises that result in tangible actions you can implement in your community.

Additional information is available at the Maryland Climate Leadership Academy website, including a program agenda with schedule, event highlights and speaker info. To participate in this timely training, you must RSVP by December 20, 2019.  If you have questions or would like additional information about the program, please feel free to reach out to Daniel Kreeger at dkreeger@climateofficers.org.
