MML recognizes that a concentrated municipal effort could mean a significant difference in the dollars Maryland is allocated based on our 2020 Census count. The Supplemental Census Grants, being disbursed by the Maryland Department of Planning, are monies for the explicit purpose of increasing that count - specifically among hard to count populations and those regions that were undercounted in 2010.
Whether your municipality is in need of assistance funding already planned census initiatives or requires funding to develop new initiatives, it’s worth the time to apply for the Supplemental Census Grants.
If your municipality is interested in applying for a Supplemental Census Grant, it must be received by the Department of Planning no later than December 31, 2019. Questions or requests for assistance in completing the application should be directed to Maria Sofia at maria.sofia1@maryland.gov or 410-767-4485.
Prior to beginning the grant process, we recommend reading the Overview included in the full Letter from the Executive Director found on MML's Census Page.
