Following the lead of the House Economic Matters Committee, the Senate Finance Committee voted to send both wireless small cell bills (SB 713 and SB 937) to summer study. This may be the final step towards averting a statewide bill in 2019. Exactly what the scope and composition of the study will look like is still very much up in the air and we should learn more after the General Assembly concludes this year’s session.
MML advocated that a statewide bill is unnecessary to continue the deployment of small cells in Maryland’s municipalities because local governments are actively working on this issue. Now, it is critically important to continue to work on aesthetic standards for your rights-of-way. Please let MML know if you need assistance.
