The FCC Order pertaining to small cells went into effect last week and if you have not already created aesthetic design standards, now is the time to do so. Aesthetic design standards can help a municipality tailor how small cell infrastructure look and to some extent preferences on where it can be placed. These standards need to be published prior to the receipt of an application to deploy small cells in order to use them to judge an application. Here is a good example of a small cell ordinance and a set of aesthetic design standards from Worthington, Ohio.
