The Task Force on State and Local Government Accounting for Natural Capital is a recently created entity and has two municipal seats. Its purpose is to inform State and local government officials on ways to finance conservation or environmental restoration projects by researching the barriers to implementing accounting standards, inventorying institutions that support natural capital, and recommending auditing practices to better quantify natural capital. The group will produce recommendations based on their findings in a report by the end of 2023..
