Sustainable Maryland is a popular program within the MML membership. It provides guidance and incentives to promote activities and policies that foster environmentally friendly outcomes in the community. Over 80 municipalities currently participate in the program with more joining each year. House Bill 100 establishes a fund to be used by the Sustainable Maryland program to bolster its outreach and municipal engagement. The bill also provides for a mandatory appropriation to the fund as part of the State budget. MML and several mayors testified in favor of this important bill and upwards of 50 mayors signed a letter also in support.
