2009 Fall Conference Schedule - One Page

This year MML's fall conference returns to Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort in beautiful western Maryland after a five-year hiatus on October 22-24, 2009. The Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort sits in a beautiful forested area on a 243-acre lake at the foothills of Rocky Gap State Park in the heart of historic Cumberland Valley. The Maryland Municipal League fall conference serves several important purposes. It is first and foremost an opportunity for city and town officials to gather, exchange information, and renew acquaintances. It is also the event where the membership first learns about and then approves the League's legislative agenda for the upcoming session of the Maryland General Assembly.

This year's conference will feature three Academy core classes: Employment Issues, Ethics, and Municipal Budgeting. The conference will also offer four Academy elective workshops: Municipal Issues in Court, LEED Standards Explained, Stretching Your Municipal Dollar, and Implementing the Next Generation of Land Use Regulations. One additional workshop will cover Maryland's "Safe Routes to School" program. In addition, the MML Board of Directors, the Large City Forum and the Maryland Mayor's Association will meet during the conference. There will also be a joint meeting of MML's District Vice Presidents and Chapter Presidents on Friday morning. Conference information and a registration form will be in the July/August issue of Municipal Maryland and will also be on MML's website at www.mdmunicipal.org.

Note re Lodging Payments: Payments for lodging by town check or credit card are exempt from state sales tax - please provide the town tax exemption certificate. Payments by personal check or personal credit card are subject to all taxes, including state sales tax.
