MML’s convention provides a unique opportunity to meet with your colleagues from around the state to share ideas, solutions to problems, and techniques for service provision and municipal administration.

MML’s 2004 convention theme Governing Better With IT focuses on information technology (IT). In the 21st century, delivering municipal services and information to city and town residents will depend heavily on technology. Municipal officials and employees will be expected to be technically savvy by their increasingly sophisticated citizens. MML’s convention is a learning experience, tailored to fit the needs of Maryland’s municipal officials. It provides access to experts in technology, finance, law, management and innovation, and to state leaders whose decisions will shape the future of cities and towns. Many municipal officials find that one of the most valuable aspects of the convention is meeting with colleagues from other jurisdictions and having frank discussions about issues, which often lead to solutions of common problems.

Cities and towns play a key role in the quality of life for municipal residents. While municipalities provide essential services such as water, sewer, trash collection and police protection, they also affect people’s lives through often “unseen” functions such as planning and zoning, economic development, and service negotiation. Cities and towns bring people together through festivals, parades, citizen commissions, senior citizens programs, and youth recreation leagues. MML’s convention is for you – the people who lead Maryland’s cities and towns, and give so freely of your time to make your communities better places for the people who live there.

YOU will help make this event a success by attending! Join your peers in Ocean City, June 27-30, 2004, for MML’s annual convention.
