Re-Imagining the Essay Contest

Since MML had to cancel the traditional "If I were mayor..." Essay Contest, they’re offering a unique resource that can be used to let students learn on their time and in their own space. It’s designed to keep students involved in instruction and learning, by piquing their curiosity about the government that’s closest to the people. This assignment can easily be shared with students or printed out for pick up.

Mayor Gavin Buckley of Annapolis and Mayor Jake Day of Salisbury came up with an idea and are hoping #MayorsWithMasks can get trending so that people understand and appreciate the importance of wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Join other Maryland Mayors by posting your selfie on social media.

Protecting First Responders

Mayor James of LaPlata wants to help protect her local emergency personnel by demanding that the County health departments share the addresses of people who tested positive for COVID-19 with law enforcement officers and emergency responders so that they can be properly protected when responding to calls.
